Drafted

Drafted
As horrible as it is, this war had begun.
His draft number got pulled out of a ton.
Basic training for him started with drills.
Sent to San Francisco with all those hills.
Not before he had time to tie the knot,
To the girl of his dreams, ready or not.
His time in the army lasted a year.
With his honorable discharge he said Hello Dear!

The Right Stuff

The Right Stuff
How does she do such great feats?
Does her clock tick to multiple beats?
She taught me to sew and then some.
Not sure where all the energy comes from.
Greatest at organizing, so We'll be just fine.
I think her brain is twice the size of Einstein.
She braids her bread that rises to the sky.
She must get her answers from on high.
She is one of those that are Greatest of these.
Taught me, she did to say thanks and please.
Don't think I can ever give thanks enough.
But from God, she got all the right stuff.

Point Me The Way To Go

Point Me The Way To Go

I am told of this change in me.
Never could I imagine nor see.
It has arrived, the time is now.
I might need help, I don't know how.
My past will show the change to do.
In my future and I trust in me too.
I have yet to break out of this cocoon,
nor off the ground to my own tune.
Feel the breeze beneath my wings.
Breath in the smell of things.
Show off my brightest color
My show will be the greatest wonder.

Dream Race

Dream Race
A long time ago I dreamed a dream.
I was in a race that starts in a stream.
My mom and I, We're in it to win it.
With the start of the race. I say "Wait a minute.
I forgot my shoes so our start is delayed.
Even with a strange course, we never strayed.
We passed all the others and won the race.
It was because we had a really good pace.
We took first place with a time of 6 and half.
Waking from the dream thinking this was no laugh.
My dream showed me that time remaining.
On my mission should be for working and not complaining.

In 1994 I had this dream, even still vivid today. Now as I was out running I saw this scene that reminded me of a poem I wrote last week about this dream.   The dream helped me to finish my mission working at what I was doing out there. It was a heavenly reminder.

Love of a Warrior

Love of a Warrior

Have you heard of this legendary love story
With a warrior and princess in all of their glory.
they wanted to marry and be together forever.
Defeat the enemy or come back never.
She was told her love had died in combat.
This caused her heart to stop, just like that.
He returned from the war to discover.
That there was no way to recover.
He built her an enormous burial.
Placing her on top, like a grand imperial.
Crouching, watching with his smoking torch.
Waiting for his love to awake on his front porch.

Isolation, is it?

Isolation, is it?
Run first thing and sweat it.
Eat your breakfast and enjoy it.
Go to work and do it.
Go to store and buy it.
Cover your face and avoid it.
Swim in the pool and drown it.
Stream netflix and veg it.
Read your scriptures and search it.
Bow your head and pray it.
Soon your isolation will end,  will it?

It's all in the words

It's all in the words

Bump I go into the night
Embraced by its awful fright.
A horror filled fixture appears
with a howl that spins my gears.
It appears with a lonely shimmer
My resolve should be not to look in the mirror.

Her Eyes

Her Eyes
I could stare at them for hours.
Find myself lost by some unforeseen powers.
I dare not blink and try to guess
Why she would consider to say yes.

Yes her eyes are only part of her beauty
She really is the full package of a cutie.
I thank God that she has two eyes.
Each day i get a double surprise.

I wrote this as a response poem to one I wrote a year ago called My Love. http://pachathepoet.blogspot.com/2019/01/my-love.html

Grandma's Cookies

Grandma's Cookies
At the store I see it all packaged up
Does it make me want milk in a cup.
No way, nothing can still compare
You would think it was so rare.

It was something so small
But even today i can remember all.
She would bring them out frozen
Enclosed in a bread sack, she had chosen.

Open the bag, even frozen, I smell the oatmeal.
Biting into it, you know this is real.
Give it a little bit to unfreeze.
Don't forget to tell her thank you and please.

I have seen the recipe but that won't be the same.
I would hope that you can see it wasn't for the fame.
Was it the smell or maybe even the taste.
Nope it was her and her cookies never went to waste
